Under2 Coalition: the first global sub-national government climate action network

The Under2 Coalition – for which The Climate Group acts as Secretariat – is the world’s premier sub-national government climate action network. It is led by state and regional governments committed to supporting the efforts of nations and delivering the goals of the Paris Agreement, to keep global temperature rises to below 2 degrees Celsius.

The Under2 Coalition brings together over 200 signatories and endorsers, spanning six continents and 43 countries committing to reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050. Together they represent over 1.3 billion people and a collective GDP of US$30 trillion, representing almost 40% of the global economy.

Led by states and regions internationally, the Coalition brings together signatories and endorsers of the Under2 MOU, a commitment to limit GHG emissions by 80-95% on 1990 levels, or to two metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per capita annually, by 2050. Established in 2015, the Under2 Coalition builds on the legacy of its forerunner, the States & Regions Alliance.
